Frequently Asked Questions
What is a “snag”?
A minor defect, fault, or outstanding task.
Examples: Paint marks on floors, loose fittings, gaps in sealant, unlevel tiling, or doors that stick.
What’s involved in a snagging survey?
The snagging survey will be a visual, non-invasive survey inspecting workmanship quality and any obvious non-compliance/defects we can identify. This will typically take between 2-5 hours depending on the size of the property and the number of issues that are identified. We can also use thermal imaging to see whether insulation has been installed correctly, and windows and doors are functioning as expected.
We will then produce a professional looking report with photos that you can pass onto the developer for review and action.
Why do I need a snagging survey?
When buying a new build property, you’re paying a lot of money to the developer. You deserve to receive your property built to the highest standard. Developers are typically under a lot of pressure to complete your new home on time and therefore standards can slip. A professional inspection will help you get the quality you deserve from your new purchase
What time will our inspector arrive?
Your inspector will typically arrive between 8-9am on your chosen day, depending on location. This will give us time to inspect and then go back to the office to write your report.
What areas do you cover?
As our office is based in Taunton, we cover the whole of the south west of England. We can travel further afield if necessary, however additional charges may apply. Get in touch and we can let you know.
Can I have snagging done pre completion?
Yes you can. You will need to have an agreement in place with your developer to grant us access. You can also check to see if you Developer has signed up to the New Homes Quality Code.
How much does a survey cost?
Prices start at £325 for a 2 bed property. This is a full professional report emailed to you within 48hrs.
